Limoges vs. Lokomotiv Kuban. EuroCup. Preview10.10.2017

Lokomotiv plays its first game of the 2017/2018 EuroCup season against Limoges in France. The French club has already gained momentum in the domestic championship. It hasn’t lost a game at its home arena yet. Loko has played only one official game and achieved a devastating win.

The Take

A year after, Limoges returns to EuroCup. Previously, the French club played in the championship twice, getting there from Euroleague.

Limoges has already won two games and been defeated in two other games in the domestic championship of France. Kyle Milling’s team takes the 8th place in the standings of the PRO-A League.

Lokomotiv Kuban has already played one official game in the season. Last weekend, Sasa Obradovic’s team hammered Kalev in Tallinn – 88:62.

Considering Loko’s newcomers’ playing in the 2016/2017 EuroCup season, we can say that Joe Ragland will be responsible for moving the ball in offense. The American averaged 3 assists in the last three games of the championship last season.

Chris Babb will shoot from downtown as Matt Janning has left Loko. Babb shot at least 1 three-pointer in 18 EuroCup games in a row. As for the whole last season, he averaged 2.2 3Ps in a game (the 9th place in the championship).

Stanislav Ilnitsky showed his best in the last EuroCup season as well and got into TOP-3 of 2P-shooters. Stas’s shooting percentage was 71.

Dima Khvostov starts the EuroCup season in To-20 of the best playmakers in EuroCup history, according to correlation between assists and turnovers (206.7 per cent). It means Dima makes assists twice as much as turnovers.

Axel Bouteille seems to be Limoges’ leader in the new season. The 22-year-old forward hasn’t achieved success in EuroCup yet (he averaged 1 point for 18 minutes in four games of the 2013/2014 season). But the player leads the team in the domestic championship. Axel got 12, 13, and 16 points in three starting games of the season.

Sasa Obradovic, Head Coach of PBC Lokomotiv Kuban:

- We face the team that plays much better at home and with the great fans, they have a great support and good confidence from them. We have to control their fast break and control the rebounding from the very athletic team they have. It’s never easy to start a competition on such hard outside court but we want to win the game.

Stanislav Ilnitsky, Forward of PBC Lokomotiv Kuban:

- Limoges is a tough team. They have many forwards of the same height who play on different positions. They are good at moving the ball in offense and at making fast breaks. But we’ll try to stop them. A start of any championship is uneasy because a lot depends on the first game.

The game takes place on October 11th at 8:00 p.m. Moscow time.
