Parma vs. Lokomotiv Kuban. The VTB United League. Preview18.04.2017

Parma is ready for its last game of the season, and sold-out is almost guaranteed in Perm. According to Sasa Obradovic, the main goal of Loko is to cope with pressure, because our team doesn’t want to lose points in the struggle for the third place and intends to win the game in Perm. The game takes place on April 19th at 5:30 p.m. Moscow time.

The Take

Two weeks ago Parma won its first game in the season. They dominated Tsmoki Minsk. However, the Perm team didn’t exploit the success: they lost an away game against Avtodor and were devastatingly defeated by CSKA with a 61-point advantage of the Moscow team.

The game against Lokomotiv is the last game of the season for Parma, and there is no doubt that it will be sold-out at their home arena, and Parma’s fans are going to be the sixth player of their team. But Loko is settling its own goals and is highly motivated: only two wins in the left two games can provide Lokomotiv with the third place in the standings of the regular championship. However, it is also needed that Khimki loses their last away game in Krasnoyarsk.

Our team won the game against Parma in the first stage of the regular championship without any visible difficulties – 86:61.

When Danilo Andusic was released by Parma, Russian guard Sergey Chernov took the leading role in the team. The experienced player averages 12.4 points, 4.5 assists, and 1.7 steals. He is the leader of his team in all three positions. However, Chernov fails to occupy the paint due to his height (185 cm), and the top rebounder of the team is Slovenian forward Sasa Zagorac who has joined Parma as the season unfolds.

As for Lokomotiv, in the game against Kalev, Kevin Jones made 4 steals. And now he has almost caught up with Mardy Collins who is the top stealer of Loko. Jones is still the top scorer (13.5) and top rebounder (6.6) of the team. Collins is also the top assister of Loko (4.4), but Taylor Rochestie made 9 assists in the previous game, and now he averages 4.3 rebounds per game – so close!

Quotes

Sasa Obradovic, Head Coach of PBC Lokomotiv Kuban:

- Parma is an aggressive team. They have no stars in the roster, they have nothing to lose, but for us it is do-or-die game. We should cope with pressure, catch our rhythm ahead of playoffs and integrate Mardy Collins in a game, as he has already recovered from an injury. We’ll decide on his participation in the game right ahead of the game.
