Two teams in Group E meet each other with different objectives as already-eliminated UCAM Murcia (1-4) welcomes already-qualified and group champ Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar (4-1) to Spain on Wednesday. In the only other game that these two teams played in EuroCup action, Lokomotiv won at home by 70-60 with 15 points and 9 rebounds by Kevin Jones. For Murcia, Jose Angel Antelo led the way with 16 points and 8 boards. Facundo Campazzo will finish his first EuroCup season being one of the best players in the league, leading Murcia both in points (13.5) and assists (6.7). He had help all season from Billy Baron (12.4 ppg.) and Vitor Benite (10.5 ppg.). For Loko, who will be trying to use the game as preparation for the quarterfinal playoffs, Taylor Rochestie leads the way (12.0 ppg.), followed by Matt Janning (11.8 ppg.) and Jones (11.5 ppg. and 5.7 rpg.). Murcia has the second-weakest offense in the Top 16 (73.6 ppg.) and that was a main factor in the team being eliminated early. Loko didn't excel on offense either, but it managed to play stellar defense to keep opponents under 70 points per game (69.4), best in the Top 16. The guests also are the second-best team in the league in rebounds (37.8 rpg. in the Top 16) so maybe expect to see players who could not show their skills until now get some more playing time and be ready to contribute going forward. On the other hand, Murcia will want to say goodbye on a high note to its first European participation ever with a last win in front of its fans.
Sasa Obradovic, Head Coach of PBC Lokomotiv Kuban:
- An important game for us. Every win counts and we should be ready to face a courageous opponent who wants the best way to finish the competition. They don't have too much pressure to play the game and for us it is a must-win, even though the last game against Real Madrid didn't show the real strength of this team.
Evgeny Baburin, Guard of PBC Lokomotiv Kuban:
- We know that this game doesn’t mean anything in the standings, but we can’t afford to play with no passion. We beat them at home, but no doubt that we’ll put our best in order to grab another win.
